SGM is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer I/II to join our team in Grand Junction, Colorado. As a key member of our civil/site development team, you will be responsible for executing technical and engineering tasks, contributing to the development of deliverables, and performing field work and CAD drafting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute well-defined technical and engineering tasks.
  • Contribute to the development of deliverables, including plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Perform field work and CAD drafting, including construction inspections and site visits.
  • Actively participate in team endeavors and SGM initiatives and committees as requested.
  • Proactively communicate with supervisors on professional development desires and needs.
  • Help secure repeat clients through project performance and professional persona.
  • Help secure new business by recognizing and communicating with supervisors about business opportunities through clients and projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • EI Certification or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
  • Strong familiarity and working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software.
  • Experience in surface water hydrology and hydraulic analysis and design.
  • Self-review of work and understanding of review by fellow engineers.
  • Produce deliverables such as plans, specifications, memorandums, or reports.
  • Enjoy working with a small, focused team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and schedule other subtasks.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • Able to conduct site visits on specific inspection tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Willingness to represent SGM positively in the industry and local community.
  • Desire to provide industry-leading engineering services and become an integral part of the overall SGM team.
  • Surveying experience.
  • GPS/GIS experience.
  • Septic System (OWTS) design certification.
  • Construction project administration and oversight experience.
  • Master's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Municipal engineering experience.
  • An active member of relevant professional organizations.
  • Demonstrated initiative and participation in community involvement and outreach.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to travel to various project sites, including mountain locations.
