Position Overview:


This position entails the design and development of electrical vehicle systems and hardware frameworks across multiple technological domains (such as closures, seating, etc.).

A solid foundation in electronics is essential.

The role is highly collaborative and will involve a combination of remote work, hands-on activities (in-office), and may require occasional travel.

The position is based in Irvine and reports directly to an Engineering Manager within the Hardware division.


Key Responsibilities:
Assist in feature development and breakdown into system components, starting from user narratives and vehicle specifications.


Take ownership of the requirements and design of the hardware system, ensuring effective implementation down to the interface and component levels as the ultimate electrical authority and advocate.

Formulate and support the execution of verification and validation testing strategies and protocols.

Apply fundamental principles of electrical engineering and physics to devise unique and innovative solutions to challenges.

Evaluate and provide insights on new technological alternatives and conduct comparative studies for designs.

Utilize your expertise to determine necessary actions rather than merely following directives.

Perform additional duties as required or assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably in electrical or systems engineering)

Experience (or equivalent): 5 years of professional experience in electrical engineering and systems

Preferably knowledgeable in electromechanical systems (including brushed/brushless motors and actuators)

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for translating complex technical subjects into accessible language.

Compensation Information:
Salary Range for

California Based Candidates:
$121,500 - $151,900 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Coverage begins on the first day of employment, with Rivian covering the majority of the premiums.
