Key Responsibilities

Role Summary

The Automation Controls Specialist will report directly to the Maintenance Group Leader, focusing on diagnosing and rectifying equipment issues while managing specialized electronics initiatives.

Main Duties

  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery, including PLC programming
  • Lead special projects related to plant electronics
  • Support Electrical Technicians in their tasks

Specific Job Functions

  • Diagnose and repair equipment by checking voltages, replacing faulty components, and adjusting software settings
  • Program PLCs and identify machine faults
  • Research and propose upgrades for outdated control systems
  • Update electrical schematics and maintain accurate documentation
  • Prepare daily reports and track maintenance activities for effective follow-up
  • Assist Electrical Technicians as needed
  • Engage in special projects, including machine enhancements and troubleshooting
  • Implement customer-requested PLC modifications
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned

Performance Standards

  • Reduce equipment downtime and enhance operational efficiency
  • Ensure successful completion of special projects
Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Experience with PLCs, CNC troubleshooting, and AC/DC servo drives
  • Comfortable navigating a manufacturing environment with various elevations

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred
  • Experience
    • 1-3 years of experience in troubleshooting electronic controls within a manufacturing context
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Strong understanding of electronics and schematics
    • Familiarity with various machine software
    • Basic mathematical skills, including algebra and unit conversions
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management
    • Experience with Fanuc and ABB robotics maintenance and programming
    • Knowledge of automated systems
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this role include the ability to kneel, crouch, reach, and perform repetitive motions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The job may also require lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
