Key ResponsibilitiesRole Summary
The Automation Controls Specialist will report to the Maintenance Group Leader and will be tasked with diagnosing and rectifying issues with plant machinery, in addition to managing and executing specialized electronic projects.
Main Duties
- Troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment, including PLC programming
- Lead special projects related to plant electronics
- Support Electrical Technicians in their tasks
Specific Job Functions
- Diagnose and repair equipment by checking voltages, replacing faulty components, and adjusting software settings
- Program PLCs and identify machine faults
- Research and propose upgrades for outdated control systems
- Update electrical schematics and maintain accurate documentation
- Prepare daily activity logs and track maintenance issues
- Assist Electrical Technicians as needed
- Engage in special projects, including enhancements to machine functions
- Implement customer-requested modifications to PLC relay outputs
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned
Performance Standards
- Reduce equipment downtime and enhance operational efficiency
- Complete special projects effectively and on schedule
Essential Qualifications
- Fluency in English
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
- Experience with PLCs, CNC troubleshooting, and AC/DC servo drives
- Comfortable navigating a manufacturing environment with physical demands
Educational Background
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred
- Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in troubleshooting electronic controls within a manufacturing context
- Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of electronics and schematics
- Familiarity with various machine software
- Basic mathematical skills, including algebra and unit conversions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management
- Experience with Fanuc and ABB robotics maintenance and programming
- Knowledge of automated systems
