Job Title: Director of Development

Union Settlement is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts and secure funding for our organization's operations and programs.

About the Role:

The Director of Development will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support for Union Settlement. This includes identifying and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders, actively pursuing and managing corporate and individual donors, fostering strong donor and sponsor relationships, and seeking, applying for, and managing grant funding.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to achieve annual and multi-year revenue goals.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with community stakeholders, corporate and individual donors, and grant funders.
  • Manage and steward relationships with existing donors and funders to ensure long-term commitment to the organization's mission.
  • Develop and implement a donor-centric strategy to increase annual and multi-year revenue from corporate, foundation, and government funders.
  • Plan and execute Union Settlement's cultivation and fundraising events.
  • Collaborate with the President & Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director, External Affairs & Strategic Communications, Board of Directors, and the Development team to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of fundraising trends, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Manage and analyze fundraising data and analytics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and inform strategic decisions.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible development experience, with demonstrable results across multiple streams of funding.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles, strategies, and trends in the non-profit sector.
  • Experience with donor databases, preferably Salesforce.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for Union Settlement's mission and commitment to its values.
  • Familiarity with social service programs and a strong desire to help improve the lives of residents in East Harlem.
