Job Summary

The Maricopa Community Colleges seek a visionary Chief Information Officer to lead the Information Technology Services (ITS) division. As a collaborative leader, the successful candidate will work with ITS leadership to partner with district divisions and individual colleges to provide reliable, accessible, and secure enterprise systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Efficiency and Effectiveness
    • Provide strategic direction and planning for information technology integration and infrastructure across the district.
    • Monitor resource allocation to seek economies of scale while maintaining quality of service and meeting learner needs.
    • Communicate return on investment (ROI) on capital information technology infrastructure expenditures.
    • Manage departmental budget and capital investment proposals, proactively managing risks and containing costs related to information technology system operations.
    • Oversee resource strategies and manage relationships with IT-service providers, vendors, and external entities, including accountability for all information technology assets and software licenses.
  • Shared Governance and Transparency
    • Build collaboration among district colleges and divisions to achieve overall goals and objectives through shared governance and establish a long-term technology roadmap.
    • Provide guidance and counsel to the Chancellor and Chancellor's Executive Council on information technology systems and design improved systems.
    • Make recommendations to promote innovation and ensure compliance.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Prepare the district for the future by extending and building upon key interdependencies of technology.
    • Provide overall leadership for the direction, administration, and management of district-wide objectives.
    • Lead project management prioritization and drive the development and implementation of a district-wide IT strategic plan.
    • Evaluate performance and progress toward accomplishment of goals and objectives, including monitoring workloads and prioritizing staffing needs.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business, finance, computer science, management information systems, or related discipline.
  • Experience
    • 8 years' experience with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible, technical leadership experience and demonstrated professional achievement in Information Technology.
    • 3 years of supervisory experience.
