Job Summary

The Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and promoting a culture of safety and excellence within the organization. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the ACNO is responsible for leading and managing nursing services across the assigned facility, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and enhancing the overall patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage nursing services, including direct patient care, nursing practice, education, and development.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient safety, quality, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer and other senior leaders to drive organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Develop and manage budgets, including nursing financial operations and budget planning.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for nursing service, including those related to patient safety, quality, and process improvement.
  • Monitor trends, outcomes, and assure appropriate reporting and compliance with regulations.
  • Assure adherence to system-wide, as well as service area specific, safety and infection control procedures.
  • Develop a patient-focused, team-oriented culture, working in conjunction with all other medical, clinical, and ancillary areas to ensure optimal service and outcomes.
  • Maintain system to determine and provide adequate staffing for provision of appropriate nursing care.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff and administration, attending and participating in interdepartmental meetings.
  • Provide input to administration about projects or programs that would enhance the direction of the hospital.
  • Promote and monitor productivity, ensuring that all physical properties in nursing areas are kept in good state of repair and operating condition.
Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of AZ or Interstate Compact required upon hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) American Red Cross or American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification required upon hire.
  • Become Certified as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) within three (3) years of hire.
  • Bachelor's Degree in medically related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • At least five (5) years' experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Three-to-five-years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Joint Commission, DNV, governmental and other regulatory standards, the requirements and guidelines related to quality improvement and patient safety.
