About the Role:

The Maricopa Community College District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Information Officer to lead its Information Technology (IT) division. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership in the development and implementation of IT systems and infrastructure that support the district's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision, strategic direction, and planning for IT integration and infrastructure across the district.
  • Monitor the allocation of resources to seek economies of scale at a system level while maintaining quality of service and meeting the needs of learners across the system.
  • Communicate and demonstrate return on investment (ROI) on capital information technology infrastructure expenditures.
  • Manage departmental budget and capital investment proposals; proactively and strategically manage risks and containing costs related to information technology system operations.
  • Oversee resource strategies and manage and negotiate relationships, contracts, and services of IT-service providers, vendors, and other external entities, including accountability for all information technology assets and software licenses.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or a field related to business, organizational management, or leadership.
  • 8 years' experience with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible, technical leadership experience and demonstrated professional achievement in Information Technology with a commitment to academic excellence, collaboration, shared governance, efficiency, and effectiveness, and 3 years of supervisory experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Track record of successfully planning and delivering complex information technology services and projects in a large, multi-facility organization, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience leading and implementing information technology transformation through a comprehensive shared governance process with vision, strategy, and excellent judgment.
  • Ability to analyze, summarize, and effectively present and use data for decision-making purposes.
  • Capacity to perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple and sometimes competing priorities, including advanced project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience implementing innovative technology and organizational change strategies to enhance processes and improve the end-user experience.
