As a Lead Analyst, you will take charge of overseeing and evaluating financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, Canadian GAAP, regulatory standards, tax obligations, and Board requirements for investment portfolios managed by the Insurance Company and its affiliates. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of accounting standards and their application to investment portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the investment reporting function for U.S. and Canadian GAAP, regulatory, tax, and Board requirements.
  • Coordinate the presentation of investments in financial statements on a quarterly basis.
  • Ensure consistency in reporting across financial statements, Board reports, and analyst communications.
  • Research and recommend new disclosures and modifications in response to evolving guidelines.
  • Determine appropriate disclosures for new investment types.
  • Interpret new guidelines issued by authoritative bodies concerning U.S. GAAP, Canadian GAAP, and various regulations.
  • Advise on necessary changes to accounting systems and information presentation.
  • Oversee audits related to Investments and articulate GWL's position.
  • Monitor the reporting database and implement necessary adjustments.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • 5-7 years of experience in financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in public accounting or investment-related financial reporting is advantageous. A CPA designation is preferred.

Base Salary Range: $88,000 - $124,500. The salary range reflects the typical minimum to maximum base salary for this position.
