Position Overview

Role: Speech-Language Pathologist for Clinical Research

The University of Chicago is seeking a skilled and empathetic Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to contribute to innovative research initiatives aimed at enhancing communication and quality of life for individuals experiencing progressive language disorders.

About the Research Center

The Healthy Aging & Alzheimer's Research Care (HAARC) Center is dedicated to pioneering research in the fields of aging and dementia. Our multidisciplinary approach focuses on implementing effective interventions and optimizing care for those affected by neurodegenerative diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough speech-language assessments for participants with primary progressive aphasia (PPA).
  • Implement intervention protocols with precision, adhering to evidence-based practices within a supportive framework.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions utilizing secure telehealth platforms.
  • Manage and analyze research data, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to collaborative research efforts.
Qualifications

Education: A degree in communication sciences and disorders is essential.

Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years in a related field, with a focus on adult populations and familiarity with telehealth practices.

Preferred Skills: Knowledge of the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA) and experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods.
