Role Summary: This position involves providing oversight and mentorship to children and adolescents in a residential environment. The aim is to assist each resident in making informed choices regarding their daily activities, behavior, and adherence to agency policies, while fulfilling the obligations of the contractual agreement with the relevant department. The role is focused on fostering an atmosphere that supports the physical and emotional health of each child. Responsibilities include the application and upkeep of Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) within the residential setting.
Qualifications:
- The City of Providence values candidates who demonstrate empathy, active listening skills, and a passion for working with youth, believing in the potential for growth and recovery regardless of past challenges.
- As services are provided around the clock, applicants must be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- We welcome a diverse range of educational backgrounds and experiences. Ideal candidates may have prior experience in residential care, degrees in psychology, social work, or related fields. We also value those with relevant experience as Community Health Workers, childcare providers, or personal experiences that contribute to their understanding of the role.
- Staff members should possess awareness and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic factors.
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance are essential for this position.
- Transportation must accommodate a minimum of three passengers in addition to the driver.
- Bilingual candidates will receive an additional 6% compensation above the base salary.
Physical Demands: This role requires the ability to:
- Travel to various community and residential locations, which may involve navigating walkways, stairs, and elevators.
- Lift up to 20 lbs.
- Push or pull loads of 10 lbs or more.
- Communicate effectively with residents and team members.
- Receive training in and apply de-escalation techniques as needed.
