Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Care Staff (Relief) to join our team at Family Service of Rhode Island. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing guidance and supervision to children and adolescents in a residential setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for residents, promoting their physical and mental well-being.
  • Assist residents in making decisions about daily life, conduct, and discipline, while adhering to Agency policy and contractual agreements.
  • Implement and maintain Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) in the milieu setting, ensuring a trauma-informed approach to care.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide comprehensive support services to residents.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, and community partners.

Requirements:

  • Empathetic and effective communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings, as scheduled.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and proof of automobile insurance, registration, and inspection.
  • Ability to be trained in and implement de-escalation techniques, utilizing Handle with Care when necessary.
  • Bilingual skills are compensated by an additional 6% above base pay.
