Residential Care Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Care Specialist to join our team at Family Service of Rhode Island. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing guidance and supervision to children and adolescents in a residential setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for residents, promoting their physical and mental well-being.
- Assist residents in making decisions about daily life, conduct, and discipline, while adhering to Agency policy and contractual agreements.
- Implement and maintain Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) in the milieu setting, ensuring a trauma-informed approach to care.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement individualized care plans, addressing the unique needs of each resident.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as de-escalation techniques and cultural sensitivity.
Requirements:
- Empathy, active listening skills, and a passion for working with youth.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as scheduled.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, proof of automobile insurance, registration, inspection, and driving record.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic issues.
- Ability to be trained in and implement de-escalation techniques utilizing Handle with Care when necessary.
- Bilingual skills are compensated by an additional 6% above base pay.
