Job Summary

Join our team as a Youth Recreation Aide at Bend Park and Recreation District. In this part-time role, you will work directly with elementary school-age children under the guidance of our recreation team leads. You will have the opportunity to develop your customer service skills and aid the Youth Recreation Team leads.

About the Job

As a Youth Recreation Aide, you will provide program instruction and/or patron supervision in recreation programs and facilities under the supervision and direction of other staff. Your responsibilities will include facilitating and implementing casual recreational activities, assisting with instructional classes, communicating effectively with the public, and maintaining the cleanliness of facilities and equipment.

Work Schedule

The work schedule is varied and may require evenings, weekends, and holidays. You will work Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm during the school year, with opportunities to work on no-school days and during the summer.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with strong knowledge of typical recreation activities and general safety precautions. You should be able to effectively follow-through on directions, demonstrate a strong work ethic, provide for the safety of others, and work cooperatively with others. You should also be able to interact effectively with a variety of patrons/participants and communicate effectively, tactfully, and pleasantly with the public and others.

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for this classification include a high school graduation or equivalency, or currently attending high school. Some previous volunteer or work experience is preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

Depending on the job assignment, duties may be performed either indoors or outdoors, which may include exposure to environmental conditions such as extreme temperatures. You will be required to walk and stand for sustained periods of time, with frequent climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting. You will also be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted, and work in large crowds and with uncooperative or difficult individuals.

Salary Description

The salary for this position is $18.56 - $21.16 per hour.
