Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ice Skate Instructor to join our team at Bend Park and Recreation District. As an Ice Skate Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching ice skating programs to youth and adults, providing a safe and enjoyable learning experience for participants.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct and supervise participants in ice skate lessons
  • Ensure safe use of facilities and maintain security of the facility
  • Maintain all required records and forms
  • Respond to accidents and incidents according to procedures
  • Set up and break down of equipment and facilities
  • Maintain the cleanliness of facilities and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and staff
  • Participate in district-wide special events as needed
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong knowledge of skating instruction, including fundamental skills, safety guidelines, child development, and age-appropriate learning and communication strategies
  • Ability to skate at an intermediate to advanced level
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, with varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. You will be required to work in extreme weather conditions and may be exposed to crowds, uncooperative participants, and difficult individuals.
