Job Summary

Sungrow USA Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team in Madison, WI. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for installing, operating, testing, and maintaining string and central solar inverters and/or BESS Systems, PCS, batteries, and ancillary equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Maintenance: Perform a variety of technical assignments involving the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of solar inverters and BESS Systems, PCS, batteries, and ancillary equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnosis: Perform general troubleshooting and diagnosis under Sungrow's maintenance and repair guidelines.
  • Commissioning and Pre-Commissioning: As needed, support and perform pre-commissioning (with and without grid emulator) and commissioning of solar inverters and BESS systems within schedule and work plans.
  • Preventive Maintenance and LTSA Activities: Additionally, for those on O&M capacity, perform Preventive Maintenance and other Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA) activities per the contract.
  • Investigation and Analysis: Investigate solar plant issues such as DC array grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients. For BESS positions, these investigations may also involve SOC checks and module/component-level troubleshooting, replacement of electrical/electronic parts, SW version updates, etc.
  • Feedback and Improvement: Provide feedback to the engineering and project team on possible mechanical and electrical design improvements.
  • Project Management: Lead upgrade/rework projects (software and hardware) in the field and interact with customers to explain the project's technical scope and manage work schedule and commitments.
  • System Integration: Work with customer SCADA engineers to set up systems communication and parameters involving Sungrow's controllers and F&G systems as needed.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately describe troubleshooting sequences and procedures which they have observed, identifies and documents basic mechanical and electrical issues and problems, performs basic corrective maintenance, create/modify Field Service procedures for safety troubleshooting and maintenance if required.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: When using contractors on sites, act as the Lead to ensure the contractors submit daily activity reports and JSA reports and work follows Sungrow standards and expectations. Prepare and submit own Daily Activity Reports and Daily JSA Reports.
  • Technical Expertise: Work independently in the field and with Design Engineers to resolve high-level technical issues, support the investigation of the root cause for technology applications for complex projects.
  • Coordination and Communication: Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistic, financial, and program management disciplines to maintain the solar plant operations.
  • Quality and Compliance: Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures. Completes documentation in a timely and organized fashion. Follow level-appropriate standard operating procedures.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Own creation and submission of all field paperwork and documentation for full compliance with site documentation and project requirement.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science Discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience: 3 plus years of overall experience in a technical field, 2 years of experience in solar inverters or BESS.
  • Skills: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Certifications: OSHA 10 certificate within 12 months of date of hire, NFPA 70e certificate within 12 months of date of hire.
Work Environment
  • Travel: 80% Plus.
  • Work Location and Status: Full time, Madison, WI area. No visa/legal sponsorship.
