Objective:

The primary goal of this role is to execute hands-on tasks while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of processes, policies, and procedures related to quality assurance, food safety, and material integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calibration Procedures - ensuring accuracy and appropriate placement of calibration labels
  • Control of Records Procedures - maintaining all traceability and testing documentation
  • Corrective and Preventative Action Procedures
  • Control of Nonconforming Products Procedures
  • Allergen Controls, including awareness, labeling, and cleanup
  • Regulatory compliance concerning OU, SQF, GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, and USDA
  • Understanding of GMPs for Dietary Supplements (21 CFR Part 111) and the ability to be trained on relevant regulations
  • Manage the process for pulling and sending dietary supplement ingredients for identity testing
  • Conduct necessary checks on dietary supplement packaging materials and document findings for each lot
  • Ensure proper documentation is obtained for each production run of dietary supplements
  • Perform ATP testing of equipment and effectively communicate results
  • Act as a backup to the Quality Director regarding SQF requirements
  • Engage with raw product suppliers to confirm compliance with specifications and maintain appropriate verification records
Additional Duties:
  • Assist with food safety and sanitation inspections of the facility
  • Conduct allergen testing and interpret results
  • Perform sanitizer concentration testing
  • Coordinate and ship product and environmental samples to external laboratories
  • Execute a successful mock recall within four hours of initiation
  • Conduct final product testing and inspection for moisture and bulk density analysis; may include baking and product performance testing based on customer requirements
  • Perform receipt inspections on incoming products
  • Carry out environmental microbial sampling and maintain related documentation and samples post-cleanup
  • Gather, store, and maintain product samples
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of food ingredients for specifications, Letters of Guarantee, SDS, Kosher, Quality programs, or audit compliance certificates
  • Communicate effectively at multiple levels using verbal, written, and computer skills
  • Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and possess basic math skills, including understanding weights, calculations, and color distinctions
  • Exhibit visual acuity to assess quality standards and material integrity; provide guidance to personnel as necessary
  • Ability to stand for an entire shift and lift, twist, bend, stoop, push, and carry up to 15 pounds; some tasks may require lifting up to 60 pounds and working at heights
  • Work independently and efficiently
Qualifications:
  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution and at least 1 year of experience in quality assurance, inspections, or manufacturing operations, or
  • A degree or certification in a closely related field with a minimum of 6 months of experience in quality assurance, inspections, or manufacturing operations
