Employee Relations Professional Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Employee Relations Professional to join our team at Securian Financial Group. As a key member of our HR team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a positive work environment and advising management on various situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advising management on employee relations issues, including performance coaching and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Investigating and resolving employee complaints and concerns, including those related to employment regulations, workplace violence, and harassment.
  • Developing and implementing effective actions to address gaps in management's understanding and application of successful staff management.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with key constituencies, including management, leadership, and external regulators.
  • Managing assigned program areas to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of employee relations experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in handling employee relations issues, interpreting employment laws, and writing and implementing HR policies.
  • Knowledge of employment laws (EEO, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, FCRA) and Human Resources best practices.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and synthesize data and information, and provide advice and counsel to employees and managers.
  • Professional written and oral presentation skills, and interpersonal and communication skills to cultivate and build strong relationships.
Preferred Skills:
  • Successful track record in a bachelor's degree program or comparable experience.
  • Experience in financial services in a human resources role.
  • Experience advising on employee relations issues with exempt/senior roles.
