Your New Role: Boly Welch is exclusively partnering with Oregon-Canadian Forest Products (OCFP) to identify their next Chief Operations Officer. This is a rare opportunity to join the Executive Leadership team of a successful high-end wood product manufacturer that sources materials from the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

As the Chief Operations Officer, you will leverage extensive knowledge of manufacturing best practices while being eager to understand the nuances of these specialized products. Reporting directly to the President and collaborating closely with the leadership team, you will formulate strategic initiatives and execute objectives alongside front-line staff. This executive position is vital for upholding high production standards while promoting continuous improvement and innovation.

With the same dedication they apply to their product quality, the Chief Operations Officer will guide and mentor all mill personnel, leading with empathy and accountability. With a proven history of identifying efficiencies and implementing process enhancements, you will navigate the business towards future innovation, profitability, and growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the lumber mill, ensuring production timelines and quality benchmarks are achieved.
  • Continuously assess, analyze, and refine production processes and policies to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop and uphold Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all essential processes.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste and enhance processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing operations team, nurturing a culture of excellence and ongoing improvement.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on employee recruitment, training, mentoring, and development.
  • Encourage a culture of safety, ensuring all operations adhere to OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Work alongside the CEO and senior management to devise and implement strategic plans for operational growth and innovation.
  • Engage with sales, purchasing, and finance teams, as well as ownership, during company financial assessments to optimize long-term performance and profitability.
  • Build strong relationships with reliable suppliers to guarantee a consistent supply of high-quality raw materials.
