POSITION SUMMARY
The Automotive Maintenance Specialist II is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of Preventative Maintenance protocols and is capable of executing both fundamental and advanced repairs, adjustments, and component replacements with minimal oversight. This role also entails performing basic diagnostic assessments to accurately identify vehicle system failures and recommend appropriate repairs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect vehicles to ascertain the cause of failures or malfunctions.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements.
- Diagnose and repair or replace components related to air, hydraulic, electric, and drum brake systems.
- Test drive vehicles and evaluate components using the necessary equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems, including leaf and coil springs, shocks, and air bags.
- Diagnose and rectify issues within electrical systems.
- Repair exhaust systems as needed.
- Identify and resolve air conditioning system malfunctions.
- Remove and replace components such as u-joints, carrier bearings, transmissions, clutches, and rear differentials.
- Troubleshoot and repair both diesel and gasoline engines.
- Perform vehicle alignments according to manufacturer specifications (may vary by location).
- Conduct front axle work, including kingpins, bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, and radius arms.
- Execute basic wire welding, with aluminum welding as an added advantage.
- Review service requests from service writers and determine necessary tasks for timely completion.
- Assist in training new service shop personnel on company protocols for vehicle repairs as directed by management.
- Conduct final inspections of repairs requested by customers to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Maintain a tidy and organized work environment.
- Automotive training or education is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Ford software is preferred.
- Experience with Snap On software is beneficial.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
- Proficient automotive diagnostic and mechanical experience.
- Strong communication skills to interact with customers professionally.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work is conducted in a non-climate controlled shop environment.
