The EHS Compliance Specialist is an entry-level position in the environmental health and safety domain. Typically, candidates in this role are recent graduates or individuals transitioning from the trades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide safety guidance and technical support to project teams, serving as a role model for both Skanska and subcontractor personnel.
  • Assist project teams in identifying and addressing construction and environmental risks.
  • Exhibit flexibility and adaptability as a team player, alongside strong communication and client service skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, with at least one year of relevant experience in heavy civil infrastructure.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL)
  • Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP)

Experience:

  • Familiarity with Washington Department of Transportation Plans and Specifications, Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control (TESC), and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
  • Understanding of environmental regulations from the Washington State Department of Ecology and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
  • Experience in providing environmental training and orientations to project teams.
  • General knowledge of environmental issues related to biological and cultural resources, land use, noise, and vibration.
  • Experience with hazardous materials management and working in environmentally sensitive areas.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents and regulatory permits.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, and critical thinking abilities.
