Under the supervision of the Nurse Supervisor, the Clinical Dietitian will provide essential services to clients living with HIV.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement nutrition care plans through the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) for all HIV-positive individuals receiving treatment.
  • Conduct thorough nutritional evaluations in line with the NCP and create personalized nutrition care strategies.
  • Perform baseline and annual nutrition assessments, along with additional evaluations as requested.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to support clients in achieving their dietary goals.
  • Deliver nutrition education and counseling tailored to the NCP of each patient.
  • Offer resources to assist clients in maintaining a healthy diet within budget constraints.
  • Administer Medical Nutrition Therapy as recommended by healthcare providers.
  • Engage in outreach and re-engagement efforts to retain clients in nutrition services.
  • Follow up with clients within 1-2 weeks post-assessment to reinforce objectives and address any challenges.
  • Maintain a caseload of clients receiving nutrition services, ensuring regular contact.
  • Coordinate all aspects of nutrition supplementation, including assessments and obtaining necessary authorizations.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and participate in case discussions as required.
  • Document all nutritional interactions in the appropriate systems.
  • Supervise dietetic students as necessary.
  • Coordinate with external nutrition programs for patients at AMC DHIVM.
  • Participate in eligibility assessments and recertification processes.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in nutrition or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Candidates must be a Registered Dietitian with the ADA and possess 1 to 3 years of documented experience in providing outpatient nutrition services to medically compromised populations.

Language Skills:

Ability to comprehend and interpret medical information is essential, along with familiarity with medical terminology. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required; Spanish language skills are a plus. Candidates should be capable of addressing routine inquiries from clients and regulatory bodies.
