Job Overview

Altom Transport is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fleet Dispatcher to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Order Management: Monitor customer portals, email, and other systems to receive orders from various customers, and accurately enter customer orders into the Altom Transport system (TMW Truck-Mate) in a timely manner.
  • Workload Balancing: Balance workload across drivers to maximize productivity daily.
  • Customer Service: Provide an excellent service experience for customers, both internal and external, and investigate and resolve customer service issues and complaints promptly.
  • Safety and Compliance: Immediately report and document all accidents, injuries, spills, mixes, security issues, unsafe conditions, or other incidents to the Safety Department and Operation Managers, and participate in the investigation process to identify the root cause of any incident/accident.
  • Fleet Maintenance: Maintain daily accurate fleet maintenance records for terminals truck fleet, coordinate with Altom Maintenance Managers and Maintenance Techs to schedule repairs, and follow up on maintenance issues.
  • Safety Culture: Create and maintain a safety culture, ensuring all transportation operations comply with all facility, company, State, and federal rules and DOT regulations.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with basic computer skills: i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook; and ability to learn online customer systems.
  • Business Judgment: Can be entrusted to make sound business judgments and decisions to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Geographic Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Texas geography with emphasis on the Houston Metro area and surrounding Gulf Coast states.
  • Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of TMW products, Geotab e-Log, and GPS Positioning systems, as well as Netradyne Camera systems, is a plus.
