POSITION OVERVIEW


The Critical Care Laboratory (CCL) delivers essential, timely laboratory services to patients presenting with diverse medical conditions and varying admission/discharge requirements.

Utilizing advanced total laboratory automation (TLA) technology, the CCL efficiently processes and routes specimens to automated systems for chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, and coagulation analyses.

Additional testing capabilities within the CCL encompass specialized coagulation, urinalysis, body fluid analysis, blood gas evaluations, rapid molecular diagnostics, and kit-based testing.

The laboratory also plays a pivotal role in training residents, new personnel, and students in medical technology.

Staffed around the clock, every day of the week, the laboratory serves all inpatient areas as well as reference laboratory and physician office testing requirements.


ROLE SUMMARY


This clinical laboratory specialist collaborates within a dynamic team to execute routine automated and manual testing procedures, validate and report test requests, troubleshoot analytical instruments and methodologies, and assess quality control data and outcomes.

Technologists skillfully manage inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders, communicate critical value results, and address pre-analytical challenges.

All personnel operate under the guidance of division directors, managers, and lead technologists.

Minimum Educational Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree or higher is mandatory. The degree must be obtained from a program accredited by a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory (NAACLS) or an equivalent institution.

*Note that Medical Laboratory Technicians with an Associate of Science from an appropriate program may also be considered for a position as Med Lab Tech- Testing.

Essential Qualifications
A degree in Medical Laboratory Technology along with ASCP/AMT, MT or MLS Medical Board Certification is required. *Please note that board certification is a prerequisite for employment.

If not certified, the candidate must secure MLS certification within one year of employment, with the first attempt at the board certification exam occurring within the initial six months of employment.
