About the Role

Goodwill Industries Of Greater New York is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Peer Support Specialist to join our team. As a valued member of our organization, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with serious and persistent mental illness.

Job Summary

This position involves providing person-centered and recovery-oriented services to participants in our PROS program. You will work collaboratively with staff, other providers, and collaterals to ensure coordination of services and support participants in achieving their goals.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of up to 5 participants, providing case management, collateral contacts, referrals, vocational assistance, and other necessary supports.
  • Assist with daily operations as needed, fostering a congenial atmosphere that promotes the basic philosophy of our PROS program.
  • Lead or co-lead groups and activities, including community exploration trips and special events, while documenting participant attendance when required.
  • Share personal experiences to inspire hope and recovery within the program.
  • Collaborate with staff, other providers, and collaterals to ensure coordination of service, advocate for participants' needs, and participate in weekly supervision, meetings, and trainings.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a Peer Specialist training program.
  • Credentialing through the Academy of Peer Services is mandatory.
  • Spanish-speaking skills are a plus.
  • Experience working with mental health/substance use is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
Special Considerations

Field work may be necessary, and you must be able to utilize public transportation for travel. Additionally, you should be able to climb stairs.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 per year, based on location and experience.
