Job Overview

Pride Health is seeking a highly motivated Mental Health Advocate to join our team at the Crisis Respite Center in Brooklyn. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will work closely with individuals and families, utilizing your personal experience and expertise to promote recovery and resilience.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal communication skills, be able to travel to client residences and community centers, and have experience working in the behavioral/mental health field. A minimum High School Diploma/GED is required, along with certification as a Peer Specialist in NY (CRPA, CRPA-P, NYCPS, or NYCPS-P).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster meaningful relationships with participants and families through active listening, empathy, and shared experiences.
  • Conduct outreach activities to promote community awareness of available services and encourage help-seeking behavior.
  • Develop and implement personalized wellness toolkits to support participants in achieving their goals.
  • Collaborate with the team to provide trauma-informed and culturally competent care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of visits and participant progress.

Requirements:

  • NY Peer Specialist Certification (CRPA, CRPA-P, NYCPS, or NYCPS-P)
  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to travel to client residences and community centers
  • Experience working in the behavioral/mental health field
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
