About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Support Specialist to join our team at Geisinger. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and clinical support for physicians and other providers in the outpatient setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Obtains and documents patient information using the electronic medical record, including reason for visit, weight, vital signs, visit screening information, medication review, and pertinent information for provider.
  • Sets up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
  • Assists patients as needed to prepare for visit with provider, ensuring patient safety and privacy.
  • Provides direct patient care as directed by provider based on competency and needs of clinic, such as performing EKGs, wound dressings, and supporting minor surgical procedures and ancillary examinations.
  • Prepares and administers medications according to policy and procedure after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency.
  • Completes patient tests and treatments per provider's order according to policy and procedure after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency.
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork accurately and efficiently to expedite laboratory studies.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program (Required)
  • Minimum of 1 year-related work experience (Preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
