Position Title:

Lead Controls Engineering Manager

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and mentor a team of Controls Engineers, ensuring the delivery of superior quality work.
  • Establish design and programming standards while upholding engineering best practices.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert in automation for the scale-up and launch of new chemical delivery systems tailored for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Guide Controls Engineers in the testing, tuning, and optimization of equipment for peak operational performance.
  • Align project timelines with New Product Development management.
  • Develop PLC and HMI code based on user requirements as specified in input/output sheets, sequence charts, alarm/interlock charts, P&IDs, and control panel schematics.
  • Assist mechanical, field service, and systems engineers in the operation and troubleshooting of control equipment, including sensors, transmitters, remote I/O, and other microcontrollers.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance process automation hardware and software for both solid and liquid delivery systems.
  • Diagnose control panel hardware and electrical equipment issues, making necessary adjustments to restore operational status.
  • Promote a safe working environment and drive process enhancements.
  • Engage in active listening and structured problem-solving.
  • Facilitate change management through cross-functional collaboration in a global context.

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree, trade school diploma, or completion of an apprenticeship program in Programming and Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 7-12+ years of experience in PLC/HMI control systems design and implementation.
  • Hands-on experience in an automation/control environment, including programming of PLCs and HMIs.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and editing logic using IEC languages (Ladder, FBD, Structured Text, SFC) and understanding control loops and conditional statements.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication networks and the ability to troubleshoot electrical panels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to work independently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate within diverse teams and manage cross-functional projects.
