Position Overview: 5-D Systems, a KRATOS Company, is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled individual to take on a pivotal role in systems engineering. This full-time position emphasizes collaboration within a team-oriented environment, focusing on support for unmanned aerial platforms. The ideal candidate will be adept at developing specifications, crafting system design documentation, maintaining existing analytical models, and innovating new models, as well as planning and executing tests to confirm requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate customer and stakeholder specifications, breaking down and deriving requirements, and assigning them to system and subsystem components.
  • Design system architecture for both new and existing systems.
  • Conduct trade studies and perform design research to ascertain optimal requirements and system architecture.
  • Create test plans and documentation.
  • Formulate test cases based on requirements specifications.
  • Generate system and subsystem interface definitions, schematics, and design documentation.
  • Lead and execute testing as necessary.
  • Adhere to structured and defined development methodologies.
  • Collaborate with the Software Engineering Team to establish software system requirements and testing protocols.
  • Engage in the planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex engineered systems and software to ensure alignment with functional specifications and customer needs.
  • Conduct peer reviews of team members' contributions.
  • Report project and task progress to the project lead.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentation materials.
  • Travel to client locations as required (travel may exceed 25% at times).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7-9 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Possession of a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one if necessary.
  • Experience in developing system requirements and architecture in collaboration with an engineering team.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills.
  • Results-driven with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Experience in the Defense and/or Aerospace sector is essential.
  • Experience with aircraft is required; familiarity with unmanned aircraft is a plus.
