Kratos Defense is in search of a dedicated and experienced Lead Systems Engineering Specialist to contribute technical expertise and guidance in systems engineering. This full-time role emphasizes collaboration within a team-oriented environment, focusing on support for both manned and unmanned aircraft systems as well as unmanned ground vehicles.
The ideal candidate will possess the capability to:
- Analyze and Decompose Requirements: Understand customer and stakeholder needs, breaking down and deriving essential requirements for system and subsystem components.
- Architect Systems: Design and develop system architecture for both new and existing projects.
- Conduct Research: Perform trade studies and explore fundamental engineering concepts to identify optimal system architecture and requirements.
- Create Test Plans: Develop comprehensive test plans and reports to ensure all requirements are met.
- Define Interfaces: Establish system and subsystem interface definitions, along with system schematics and design documentation.
- Lead Testing Efforts: Oversee and execute testing processes as necessary.
- Collaborate with Software Teams: Work closely with software engineering teams to define software system and testing requirements.
- Participate in System Development: Engage in the planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex engineered systems to meet functional specifications.
- Conduct Peer Reviews: Review the work of fellow engineers to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
- Report Status: Provide updates on project and task progress to project leads.
- Support Proposal Preparation: Assist in creating proposals and presentation materials.
- Travel Requirements: Be prepared for potential travel to customer locations, which may exceed 25% of the time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 11-20 years of relevant industry experience.
- Possession of a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Experience in developing system requirements and architecture in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a self-directed work ethic.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and a results-oriented mindset.
- Experience in the Defense and/or Aerospace sectors is essential, with a focus on aircraft systems.
- Familiarity with unmanned aircraft systems is advantageous.
