About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to join our regulatory department as a Licensing Coordinator (Administrative Assistant 2) within our Professional Licensing Division at our central office in Des Moines, Iowa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and process applications for professional licensure.
  • Serve as the point of contact and expert for licensure requirements.
  • Become proficient with the licensing database.
  • Conduct business in a professional, courteous, and approachable manner.
  • Prepare correspondence and respond to varied and detailed requests.
  • Provide training to staff on licensure best practices in accordance with Administrative Rule and Iowa Code.
  • Create standard operating procedures for issuance of licenses for assigned licensing professions.
  • Provide accurate and timely responses about license requirements, application status, and reasons for regulations.
  • Exercise independent judgment in making decisions in accordance with policies, laws, or regulations controlling the agency's operations.
  • Assist visitors and callers to provide technical help on licensing applications.
  • Organize and oversee records of a confidential, complex, or otherwise sensitive nature.

Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field, and experience equal to one year of full-time administrative support or technical support work.
  • A total of five years of education and/or full-time experience where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as an Administrative Assistant 1.
