Job Summary

The General Manager - School Nutrition is responsible for overseeing the food service operations in a school district, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing exceptional customer service. This role requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to motivate and train a team of food service professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain systems and procedures for food service operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and food safety protocols.
  • Manage a team of food service professionals, including cooks, cashiers, and maintenance staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
  • Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to increase sales and participation in the food service program.
  • Conduct regular inventory and quality control checks to ensure that food service operations are running efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the food service program meets the needs of students and staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in food service management, nutrition, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and train a team of food service professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures, as well as relevant regulations and laws.
