Job Summary
Torrance Memorial Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Assistant to join our team. As an Environmental Services Assistant, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform terminal cleaning procedures, including changing of bed linen upon patient discharge, to ensure a clean and hygienic environment.
- Move and arrange furniture for meetings and departmental moves, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Clean and maintain assigned areas of the hospital, including floors, walls, sinks, and lavatories, office areas, and furniture, using prescribed procedures.
- Replenish supplies of paper products, hand sanitizer, and hand soap to maintain a well-stocked and efficient environment.
- Collect and transport medical waste and solid waste to designated storage areas, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain assigned equipment in a clean and eye-pleasing condition, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Respond to calls for special cleaning assistance from other departments, providing timely and effective support.
- Collect soiled linen and transport bags to the dock area for pick-up, ensuring a smooth and efficient linen management process.
- Keep supervisors informed of unusual conditions, security, safety, or health hazards, ensuring a proactive and responsive approach to risk management.
- Perform daily and discharged cleaning procedures for both isolation and non-isolation patient rooms, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment.
- Perform carpet cleaning procedures, including spot cleaning, water extraction, and bonnet cleaning, to maintain a clean and well-maintained environment.
- Perform hard surfaces floor maintenance procedures, including auto scrubbing, burnishing, stripping, and refinishing, to maintain a clean and well-maintained environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in environmental services or a related field preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Compensation
$23.00 - $23.57 per hour.
