About the Role:

The Microbiology Department at ALS Environmental performs various microbiological testing for a range of products and samples. This includes testing for Drug Substances, Drug Products, Excipients, Impurities, Medical Devices, Personal Care Products, and Water samples.

The Torrance, CA laboratory has full and part-time positions available, with some positions being temporary. Morning and afternoon work shifts/hours are available, with all shifts requiring weekend and holiday shifts rotations as needed.

Work Schedule:

11am to 7:30pm

Responsibilities:

As a Laboratory Technician in the Microbiology Department, you will be responsible for performing testing as assigned and working in all areas of the department, including the media preparation area. You will also be responsible for taking inventory of microbiological supplies and media, cleaning all laboratory areas, sample retain areas, and sterility cleanroom, washing glassware, and handling biohazard trash as needed.

You will also be responsible for visiting client facilities to perform water and environmental sampling, and assisting other analysts with their tasks as needed. With the guidance of an Analyst and/or laboratory management, you will evaluate data, troubleshoot, and/or process improvements.

Required Qualifications:

Prior experience with microbiology testing procedures is required. You should also have experience working with microorganisms and biohazard trash, as well as aseptic techniques. Understanding and application of GLPs and cGMPs is also required. Quality Control experience is preferred.

A High School diploma with a minimum of 1 semester direct experience in a college laboratory environment or 1-year direct experience in a work laboratory environment is required. An AA or BS degree in Microbiology or Life Science field is preferred.

Physical Demands:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, experience working in a team environment, strong multi-tasking skills, and a strong safety culture and adherence to safety protocols are required. This position involves repetitive movements, the ability to carry/lift up to 20lb, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
