Faculty Position in Computational Neuroscience and Data Science

Florida Atlantic University's College of Engineering and Computer Science is seeking a highly qualified faculty member to join our team as an Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Computational Neuroscience and Data Science. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our research and educational goals, and to make significant contributions to our neuroscience research community at the Jupiter Campus.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in computational neuroscience, neural data science, and brain-inspired computation, with a demonstrated ability to initiate and develop a robust, independent research program that will attract competitive external funding. They will also have a commitment to contributing to the excellence of our educational programs, with experience in mentorship of students and a strong teaching record.

The College of Engineering and Computer Science at Florida Atlantic University is recognized for its extensive research in the broad areas of Biomedical Engineering, including neuroengineering and prosthetics, optics and biophotonics applications in neuroscience, tissue engineering, computational modeling and biomechanics, and biomedical devices for disease detection and monitoring.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a significant record of research funding and scholarly contributions, substantial experience in mentoring students and junior faculty, a commitment to high-quality teaching across diverse courses, and active participation in interdisciplinary initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in computational neuroscience and data science, with a focus on developing innovative methods and tools for analyzing and interpreting large-scale neural data.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computational neuroscience, data science, and related areas, with a focus on developing and implementing effective pedagogical strategies.
  • Mentor students and junior faculty in research and academic pursuits, with a focus on developing their skills and expertise in computational neuroscience and data science.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary initiatives and collaborations, with a focus on developing and implementing innovative research and educational programs.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Computational Neuroscience, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Strong background in computational neuroscience, neural data science, and brain-inspired computation.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and develop a robust, independent research program that will attract competitive external funding.
  • Commitment to contributing to the excellence of our educational programs, with experience in mentorship of students and a strong teaching record.
