Position Description:

Heavy Highway Project Manager

Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing, directing, and coordinating the daily management of construction projects. This role is essential for ensuring project success.


Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze estimates prepared by the estimating team

• Assist in the creation of project schedules, phasing, and logistics

• Conduct constructability reviews as necessary

• Develop bid packages and define scopes of work

• Manage the bidding, awarding, and procurement processes for subcontractors and suppliers

• Lead and coordinate the daily management of the project, including:
o Establishing the initial project budget structure
o Updating project budgets on a monthly basis
o Managing change requests from owners and subcontractors, ensuring proper submission of change orders
o Auditing project costs and expenditures
o Overseeing invoicing for owners and subcontractors
o Managing project profitability

• Prepare monthly MPSR reports and present to leadership

• Generate and distribute monthly executive reports to owners and leadership

• Oversee the RFI and Submittal processes

• Produce and share monthly schedule updates

• Implement quality control programs

• Collaborate with the Superintendent to ensure fieldwork remains on schedule and safety protocols are followed

• Facilitate OAC meetings, taking the lead in these discussions

• Organize and document regular Project Manager meetings

• Coordinate work activities with project staff

• Maintain and update project documentation

• Manage all construction-related documents

• Oversee project closeout and completion documentation

• Understand and manage owner contracts and responsibilities

• Familiarize with subcontracts and purchase orders relevant to the project

• Act as the primary liaison among the Owner, Design Team, and other stakeholders

• Mentor and train Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers

• Continuously assess and mitigate project risks

• Participate in RFQ/RFP responses as necessary

• Engage in project interviews as required

• Assist in identifying and developing future project opportunities

• Adhere to company safety policies to foster a safe work environment

• Perform additional duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

Heavy Highway Project Manager

Desired Qualifications/Skills:


• High School diploma or GED required


• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred, or equivalent work experience


• Minimum of 3 years of experience in bridge construction, road reconstruction, underground utilities, excavation, and site work


• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel


• Experience with VISTA accounting and project management software preferred


• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required


• Strong work ethic with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions


• Excellent communication and negotiation skills


• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
