Job Overview

The Retail Operations Supervisor (ROS) embodies the vibrant spirit of the Salt Life brand. Reporting directly to the Store Manager, the ROS takes on comprehensive management duties in the Store Manager's absence. This role is pivotal in recruiting, training, and leading a proficient team of Sales Associates to ensure seamless store operations.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Customer Engagement

  • Comprehend, uphold, and adapt to all company protocols and procedures.
  • Consistently aim to surpass both store and individual sales targets.
  • Utilize weekly sales analytics to evaluate and communicate business performance to the Store Manager, while devising strategies to enhance sales.
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism in communication, demeanor, and teamwork with customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by taking ownership of the sales floor and addressing customer concerns effectively.
  • Accountable for consistently leading and nurturing a customer-centric team.
  • Empower team members to make decisions that prioritize customer satisfaction while aligning with Salt Life values.
  • Evaluate and manage the performance of Key Holders and Sales Associates through regular feedback and documentation.
  • Continuously inspire the team to achieve and exceed sales and productivity objectives; create attractive incentives to motivate exceptional service.
  • Ensure adherence to time and attendance policies among Key Holders and Sales Associates.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Salt Life product specifications, ensuring the team is equipped to engage customers with product knowledge.
  • Foster positive community relationships through personal involvement and promotional events.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain consistent communication with the Store Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with cash control procedures, including transaction handling and bank deposits.
  • Oversee the completion of daily operational tasks and checklists.
  • Uphold safety standards to guarantee a secure working and shopping environment.
  • Manage inventory supplies effectively while controlling expenses.
  • Hold the team accountable for maintaining an organized stockroom and work areas.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly to the Store Manager.
  • Exhibit flexibility in scheduling, accommodating nights, weekends, and emergencies.

Inventory and Merchandising Management

  • Process and oversee all register transactions accurately, adhering to company policies.
  • Conduct financial activities efficiently, including cash handling and merchandise management.
  • Ensure proper processing of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Maintain the visual appeal of the store through effective merchandising.
  • Assist the Store Manager in preparing for physical inventories.

Human Resource Development

  • Recruit, train, and develop Key Holders and Sales Associates.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and address disciplinary matters.
  • Foster a respectful and fair work environment for all employees.
  • Communicate employee concerns to the Store Manager as necessary.

Loss Prevention

  • Safeguard store assets by adhering to loss prevention policies.
  • Train team members on loss prevention principles and procedures.
  • Address any loss prevention concerns with the Store Manager.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of retail experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a management capacity.
  • Possess a positive, energetic, and entrepreneurial spirit, with a strong focus on sales.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and KPIs.
  • Proven ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with retail mathematics and business report analysis.
  • Proficient in retail point of sale systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work on the sales floor for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
