About the Role

The College of Southern Maryland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead the Nonprofit Institute (NPI). As a key member of the college's leadership team, the Director will be responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that align with the college's strategic priorities and support the growth and development of the nonprofit sector in Southern Maryland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and lead all NPI initiatives, aligning with the college's strategic priorities and supporting the growth and development of the nonprofit sector.
  • Consultation and Capacity Building: Provide consultation and capacity-building services to nonprofits in areas such as management, leadership, fundraising, strategic planning, board development, volunteer management, and marketing.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Assist in and encourage collaboration among local nonprofit organizations to reduce overlap and increase effectiveness.
  • Training and Development: Plan and facilitate affinity group meetings with local nonprofit organizations, conduct ongoing training needs assessments, and develop and deliver training that meets the identified needs of area nonprofits.
  • Program Management: Identify instructors, ensure costing and promotion guidelines are met, and run rosters, create personal pay contracts (PPIs), MOUs, and LOAs.
  • Communication and Representation: Develop content for social media channels and monthly e-newsletter, provide supervision and leadership for the CSM Annual Nonprofit Institute Conference, and represent the Nonprofit Institute at conferences, meetings, and other community events.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Develop data collection and reporting tools and contribute to the annual college-wide strategic planning process.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, with experience in strategy, program design, and capacity building (organizational development) and fundraising for nonprofits.
  • Skills and Abilities: Proven ability to establish collaborative relationships with stakeholders, strong oral and written communication skills, understanding of current issues and trends in the nonprofit sector, and ability to coordinate a broad range of activities and projects.
