The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory is seeking a dedicated Social Services Advocate to provide support to eligible clients in the Hampton Roads Area Command.

Job Summary:

The Social Services Advocate will assist clients with food, lodging, clothing, and financial assistance, conduct interviews to determine client needs, and maintain accurate records. Additionally, the advocate will refer clients to community agencies, build working relationships, and ensure compliance with program policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist clients in accessing essential services, including food, lodging, clothing, and financial assistance.

• Conduct thorough interviews to assess client needs and determine eligibility for services.

• Maintain accurate and complete client records, ensuring compliance with program policies.

• Develop and implement program plans tailored to client needs, with a focus on goal-oriented outcomes.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, community agencies, and other stakeholders.

• Ensure adherence to program policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Requirements:

• A minimum of two years of college coursework in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field.

• Two years of experience working in a social or public service environment, with a focus on assisting the public.

• Equivalent combination of training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Strong knowledge of social service case management principles and practices.

• Familiarity with community resources and agencies, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse client populations.

• Ability to evaluate client progress, adjust program plans as needed, and maintain accurate records.

• Physical and mental stamina to meet attendance requirements and perform job duties.

Working Conditions:

The Social Services Advocate will work in a normal office environment, with minimal physical discomforts. Sitting is the primary work position, with occasional periods of standing or walking.
