Job Title: Family Services Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a Family Services Specialist to join our team at Abacus. In this role, you will work with clients to educate them on utilizing available resources to meet their personal, social, health, and economic needs. You will provide in-home counseling, support, and empowerment to families, helping them to become self-sufficient and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-home counseling sessions with clients, providing support and direction to those dealing with difficulties.
  • Assist clients in implementing prescribed service plans by supporting and empowering families to accomplish their goals.
  • Maintain written case documentation and communicate client data to case managers, courts, schools, mental health professionals, and landlords.
  • Educate and provide role model behaviors on discipline and abuse/neglect, behavior management, household management, and medical management.
  • Participate in recreational and business activities with families to enhance education, socialization skills, and family dynamics.
  • Assess families' basic needs and request budget expenditures to meet needs that enhance family functioning.
  • Perform other related duties, including providing transportation to clients and assisting caseworkers.

Requirements:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to read manuals, training materials, reports, evaluations, and resource materials.
  • Ability to perform general math calculations and write reports and letters.
