Description

Fort Norfolk Retirement Community, Inc. is seeking compassionate and highly qualified LPNs to deliver excellent care for our residents in a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located in Norfolk, Virginia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care services to residents, following established care plans, and promote the physical, personal, and emotional well-being of each resident to help actively maintain maximum levels of self-care and independence.
  • Perform resident assessments under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON) and scope of practice, observing and documenting pertinent information, changes in condition, and reporting any changes immediately to nursing and physician management as directed.
  • Check and record vital signs, weights, and blood sugars, administer medications, injections, and other treatments as appropriately authorized.
  • Perform restorative nursing techniques, including proper positioning, ADL training, and Passive Range of Motion. Assist residents with transfers and ambulation as ordered by the physician using proper body mechanics, use of facility gait belts, back supports, and mechanical devices.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed, including bathing/showering, oral care, toileting, dressing, etc., as well as participation in recreational activities.
  • Assist with resident admissions and discharges.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Current Virginia state license as an LPN.
  • Current Adult CPR, BLS/AED certification.
  • At least three (1) year of progressive work experience in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) long-term care, home health agency, medical case management role, or related medical environment.
  • Serve as a positive role model for service excellence with a strong focus on resident safety and providing excellent nursing care in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail, organizational, time management, critical thinking, and multi-tasking skills.
  • High self-initiative and ability to accurately deliver and follow verbal and written instructions in a timely manner.
  • Skilled at working with the elderly population in a courteous, friendly, professional manner demonstrating patience and compassion. Perform duties with consideration for residents' rights, demonstrating integrity and discretion in care of residents and their health information.
  • Knowledgeable regarding safety protocols, medical and nursing practices and procedures, applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines. Experience with clinical and diagnostic procedures. Able to work independently, make sound nursing judgment, the ability to perform hands-on nursing care, including the delivery of urgent nursing care, as necessary.
  • Experience with applicable computer programs and databases, including Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to effectively operate computers and other office equipment.
  • Adhere to Clinic schedule, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
