Position Summary:


We are seeking a committed Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist to uphold and enhance food safety and quality standards within our forward-thinking beverage technology company, particularly focusing on the Botrista Pro's product safety and quality.


Key Responsibilities:

Food Safety Initiatives:

  • Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive food safety initiatives and protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international food safety regulations and standards.
  • Verify that received, produced, and packaged products adhere to quality and food safety specifications.
  • Assist in formulating and maintaining detailed specifications for beverage products, including ingredients, formulations, and manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Quality Control:

  • Establish and supervise quality control protocols, including product testing, sensory evaluations, and shelf-life studies.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Taiwan Team, and R&D teams to uphold and enhance product quality and exemplary food safety.

Equipment and Chemical Oversight:

  • Support Food Safety projects related to ingredient and machine cleaning schedules, and design improvements.
  • Understand chemical usage and MSDS, developing safety procedures in collaboration with chemical suppliers to enhance the safety of our products for customers and consumers.

Customer Audits and Reporting:

  • Collect feedback and analyze customer behavior through site audits as necessary.
  • Sample ingredients, water, and beverages to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards at customer locations.
  • Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints to identify root causes, provide solutions, and implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Prepare various routine and special reports documenting testing activities, results, and operational issues related to product quality and safety, including swab tests, finished product evaluations, and supplier audits.

Supplier and Vendor Relations:

  • Inspect incoming raw materials and ingredients as applicable.
  • Assess and manage supplier and vendor quality performance.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure the quality and safety of incoming materials.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on industry trends and innovations to maintain our commitment to excellence.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities and recommending changes within your area of responsibility.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including special projects as directed by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in Food Safety and Quality Assurance within food service or manufacturing. Strong organizational skills, excellent time management, communication abilities, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Equipment/Software Skills:
Proficiency in Google Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) is required; experience with ERP software is preferred. Basic computer skills and knowledge are necessary.

Certifications:
PCQI Certification and HACCP certification with a minimum of 2 years of implementation experience are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in food science, Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or a related field is preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and USDA regulations are advantageous.

Salary Range:
$78,000 - $100,000

Includes bonus and stock options.
