The Quality Control Manager at Multipack West plays a crucial role in ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of safety and quality. This position involves overseeing quality assurance processes and compliance with food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and report any deficiencies or practices that may jeopardize food safety and quality to senior management.
- Participate actively in teams focused on HACCP, product development, and crisis management.
- Conduct regular inspections on the production floor to assess product quality and investigate any production issues.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and food regulatory requirements, including FDA and GMP standards.
- Verify that all equipment and utensils are designed for effective cleaning and maintenance.
- Supervise production conditions and ensure adherence to established specifications and process controls.
- Conduct internal audits and verify compliance with production control forms.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure that all activities meet food safety and sanitation standards.
- Maintain and update processing instructions related to product quality and safety.
- Review and approve finished products, packaging, and supplier specifications.
- Monitor foreign material control programs and review incoming ingredient documentation.
- Supervise and schedule quality control and sanitation staff to ensure adequate coverage.
- Participate in HACCP program verification and documentation review.
- Conduct training sessions for employees on quality and food safety responsibilities.
- Perform monitoring activities throughout all stages of production.
- Manage non-conforming product logs and assist in product disposition.
- Review monthly audits conducted by quality control technicians.
- Engage in meetings and present findings as necessary.
- Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee environmental testing and manage department consumables.
- Review timecards and approve leave for quality control staff.
- Complete special tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing is advantageous.
- 3-4 years of quality assurance experience is preferred.
- HACCP certification is a plus.
- Strong computer skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities are essential.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
Essential Skills:
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills are vital for success in this role.
- Ability to assess production practices and recommend improvements to management.
- Capability to supervise staff effectively while enforcing food safety and GMP regulations.
- Adaptability to changes and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to rotate between shifts for training and evaluations.
