Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Health Department documentation and records.
  • Complete and manage lesson rosters effectively.
  • Supervise aquatic shifts on assigned days.
  • Provide orientation for new staff members.
  • Notify the Director regarding staff re-certification needs.
  • Restock First Aid supplies as necessary.
  • Administer emergency First Aid and CPR when required.
  • Enforce aquatic safety rules and procedures diligently.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of the pool deck and equipment.
  • Monitor participant safety consistently.
  • Conduct chemical testing and record results.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable environment.
  • Implement safety standards and emergency protocols.
  • Facilitate Lifeguard in-service training sessions.
  • Conduct at least two lifeguard certification or crossover classes annually.
  • Provide swim instruction and lifeguard services as needed, exemplifying leadership for other Aquatics staff.
  • Assist the Aquatic Director with required audits and assessments.
  • Support scheduling efforts for lifeguards and swim instructors.
  • Utilize computer systems for managing registrations and swim lesson rosters.

Compensation:

The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $20.54, with full-time hours totaling 40 per week.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with one to three months of lifeguarding experience or an equivalent combination of education and training. Supervisory experience in aquatics is preferred. Proficiency in computer usage is essential, as is the ability to respond quickly to emergencies and interact positively with diverse individuals.

Certifications:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or equivalent.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification (to be obtained within 180 days of hire).
  • YMCA Swim Instructor Certification (to be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • First Aid Certification.
  • AED Certification.
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT).
