Your Role

Responsible for a variety of tasks to ensure the precise and timely management of patient meal orders and services. Duties encompass clerical tasks, record management, and overseeing patient menus, including computer access to dietary information, engaging with patients to gather preferences, and ensuring satisfaction with dining experiences. Adhere to established practices and comply with relevant regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Efficiently and accurately process dietary and nourishment requests in the computer system to enhance productivity.
  • Assist patients in ordering meals and snacks, considering food allergies, cultural preferences, and specific dietary restrictions.
  • Ensure the accuracy and suitability of meals, including aspects such as texture, consistency, presentation, portion control, flavor, and temperature. Make necessary substitutions to meet satisfaction standards.
  • Deliver meals and snacks to patients following AIDET guidelines. Aid patients in meal setup and ensure their satisfaction.
  • Collect used trays and maintain cleanliness of meal carts and service areas.
  • Implement first-in, first-out procedures. Properly label, cover, and date all food items, discarding outdated items as necessary. Document food temperatures accurately.
  • Maintain polite, respectful, and clear communication with facility staff, patients, and their families.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge:
  • Understanding of general office etiquette and behavior.
  • Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • Familiarity with special diets, limitations, and substitutions.
Skills:
  • Ability to operate various office equipment efficiently (telephone, fax, copier).
  • Proficient in data entry and computer operations.
  • Capable of writing clear notes and instructions with correct spelling and grammar.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in oral presentations.
  • Apply common sense to follow written and verbal instructions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least six months of experience in customer service.
  • Prior experience with data entry.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent standing and walking required.
Preferred:
  • One year of college education with a focus on nutrition.
CERTIFICATIONS

Minimum Required:
  • ServSafe Certification.
Preferred:
  • Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM) or Accredited Food Handler Certificate.
