Your Role
The position involves a variety of tasks to ensure the precise and timely management of patient menus and meal services. Responsibilities encompass clerical duties, record keeping, and overseeing patient menus, as well as utilizing computer systems to access patient dietary information, engaging with patients to gather preferences, and ensuring satisfaction with dining experiences. Adherence to standard practices and regulatory compliance is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Efficiently and accurately process dietary and nourishment order requests within the computer system to enhance productivity.
- Assist patients in placing meal and snack orders, considering food allergies, cultural preferences, and specific dietary restrictions (Diabetic, House, Renal, GI Bland, etc.).
- Ensure the accuracy and suitability of meals, including food texture, fluid consistency, appearance, portion control, taste, and temperature. Make appropriate substitutions as needed.
- Deliver meals and nourishments to patients following AIDET guidelines. Support patients with meal setup and ensure their satisfaction.
- Collect soiled trays and maintain cleanliness of meal carts and food service areas.
- Implement first-in, first-out procedures. Properly cover, label, and date all food items, discarding outdated items as necessary. Accurately document food temperatures.
- Maintain polite, considerate, and effective communication with facility staff, patients, and their families.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of general office standards of dress and conduct.
- Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
- Familiarity with special diets, limitations, and appropriate substitutions.
- Ability to operate various office equipment efficiently (telephone, fax, copier).
- Proficient in data entry and form completion on a computer.
- Capable of writing notes and brief instructions with correct spelling and grammar.
- Deliver friendly and efficient customer service.
- Communicate clearly and present information effectively.
- Apply common sense to follow written and oral instructions.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least six (6) months of experience in customer service.
- Prior experience with computer data entry.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent standing and walking required.
Minimum Required:
Preferred:
- Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM) or Accredited Food Handler Certificate.
