About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structures Technician III to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Lunar Lander Assembly team, you will be responsible for building and assembling human-rated lunar landers that will play a critical role in our mission to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setup and Operation: Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment, to ensure efficient and safe assembly processes.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections to ensure compliance with engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control.
  • Material Handling: Operate various material handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, and other ground support equipment as required.
  • Tool Operation: Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical measuring instruments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
  • Maintenance and Housekeeping: Perform routine maintenance functions, such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years' experience in aerospace or related fields.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaboration: Ability to communicate differing opinions in a collaborative environment without conflict among other team members.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to use standard mechanical tools, fabrication shop equipment, and the capability to drill and prepare close tolerance holes for fastener installation.
  • Licensure: A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integration.
  • CAD Skills: Knowledge in the use of 3-D CAD tools to view models for assembly.
  • Reading and Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret drawings and standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience: 10 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and vehicle integration.
  • Composite and Metallic Fabrication: Experience with composite and metallic structure fabrication, such as precision drilling, cutting, and assembly.
  • Heavy Lifting Equipment: Experience operating heavy lifting equipment, such as cranes and forklifts, around flight-critical hardware.
  • Tooling and Jigs: Familiarity with tooling jigs, hand drilling, and power feed drills.
