Job Overview

Position Summary

The Asphalt Paving Technician is responsible for executing various physical tasks related to the construction and maintenance of parking lots and roadways.

Primary Duties:

The role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Performing general labor tasks associated with asphalt paving, patching, or preparation crews.
  • Demonstrating the ability to shovel, rake, and utilize other small tools effectively.
  • Conducting equipment cleaning as necessary.
  • Occasionally operating small power tools as required.
  • Signaling construction equipment operators to ensure proper alignment and movement of materials.
  • Assisting in the setup, relocation, and removal of signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices.
  • Carrying out additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • Fostering, implementing, and adhering to the company's safety policies, while encouraging all personnel, subcontractors, and consultants to embrace safety as a core value.
  • Working responsibly to avoid any intentional or unintentional harm to oneself or others.
  • Encouraging teamwork and maintaining open communication with all staff to share information and gather insights.
  • Collaborating with project teams on special initiatives as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

A High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 0-1 years of experience in the road construction sector.
  • Experience operating a paver for 0 to 2 years is essential.

Technical Expertise:

  • Understanding of road construction materials, processes, and industry standards.

Work Environment:

  • Willingness to travel out of town as needed.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Work is primarily conducted outdoors, which may involve exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust, and asphalt.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
  • Compliance with the company's drug and alcohol testing policies is required.
  • Proper PPE must be worn at all times.
