About the Position:

The Family Support Specialist in our Foster Care program maintains strong social contracts that explicitly emphasize family permanency planning and the responsibility of all stakeholders to accept nothing less than safe, loving and permanent homes for all our children. Our goal is to ensure that every child is living in a nurturing, safe, and permanent family as quickly as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop, in partnership with families, service plans for families and children that address safety, behavioral, educational, psychological and permanency needs.
  • Monitor safety, well-being and progress against other critical outcomes by facilitating regular casework contacts and documenting the same in progress notes and other case documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external service providers and other stakeholders through clear and timely verbal and written communication.
  • Actively participate in Family Court Hearings, Family Team Conferences and other meetings to advance permanency for children and families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel within the NYC Metropolitan area.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management and organizational skills are essential.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including MS Office and NYS Connections.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Base pay range $52,000 -$55,000
