- Utilize levers and pedals to control the boom's movement and manage load lines effectively.
- Raise, lower, and rotate the boom or load based on visual cues or signals from a designated helper.
- Ensure the safety of the load by observing the hook-up process and following safety protocols at all times.
- Conduct daily inspections of crane equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor site and weather conditions to make informed operational decisions.
- Maintain, clean, and lubricate equipment regularly, while obtaining necessary permits for operation.
- Exhibit versatility and a cooperative attitude, as you may be required to assist with other tasks on-site when not operating a crane.
- Be prepared to travel to various job sites with limited notice.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent.
- Provide coverage for colleagues during absences due to illness or vacation.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred, with one to three months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
- Nationally accredited certification (NCCCO, NCCER, CIC, or OECP) is mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety by taking personal responsibility for the well-being of yourself and others, in line with MasTec's Zero Injury principles.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
- Capable of writing routine reports and documentation.
- Proficient in basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to create and interpret bar graphs.
- Exhibit common sense understanding to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
- Effectively address problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
